Welcome to West Berkshire Mencap

The Mulberry Project

We are pleased to announce an exciting development from West Berkshire Mencap – The Mulberry Project. The project overall will see West Berkshire Mencap services revitalised and offering inspired new opportunities for adults and children. However it all starts with relocating and modernising the Growing4All project on a safer, accessible site at the West Berkshire Mencap Centre, creating a vibrant and inclusive facility for all to enjoy. Please click here to find out more about how you can donate – what you can donate and what it’ll all be used for!

The Mulberry Project

Message for all our clients, families, carers and supporters

I hope you are all well and coping with all the changes that we are seeing across society in the UK.

The current situation and the uncertainty about the coming weeks and months will be affecting and concerning you all it is not an easy time for anyone.

Here at West Berkshire Mencap we have been working on how we can make changes to our services to enable us to support as many of you as possible throughout the coming weeks. We have already made some decisions and continue to make plans as the situation develops so keep checking our page here as we will make announcements of upcoming changes as often as we can.

We have closed our Children’s Services as a direct result of the closure of Castle School, and if you are affected by this you will have already received a call and a letter explaining the situation.

We have closed our Adult Day Services tonight in order to keep clients and staff safe and following government advice.

Our supported Living Service at Heffernan House and Stella Maris House continues as normal but with extra precautions in place to protect the staff and clients at these services.

As a result of these changes we are:

Setting up a HELPLINE for clients and families to make contact with us and so that we can determine on an individual basis how best we are able to support you – a further announcement on this will follow early next week.

Exploring where we might be able to offer some kind of outreach services depending on what is allowable/advisable.

Keep checking our page for more updates!

This Facebook page will be used as the only page where we will be posting information – our other Facebook pages will be closing and followers will be directed here.

Please be assured that the West Berkshire Mencap family will be here for you all throughout this difficult time.

Best wishes

Sara Vaughan
