Last week, we held our Fashion Show at the Chequers Hotel to raise awareness of equal opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. The Fashion Show was a wonderful success, with many previous attendees commenting that it was the best one yet. The message of the need for equal opportunities for adults with learning disabilities was sang loud and proud, and how much the event meant to all the adults we support, who were involved, was plain to see.
The event was kindly supported by The Clothing Warehouse who generously allowed us the use of their clothing for the evening. The event was kindly opened by the Mayor of Newbury, Howard Bairstow, and also attended by the Mayoress of Newbury, Jo Day. The interval entertainment included a performance from our Sing Out choir, supported and followed by a performance from the local Rock Choir.
We are extremely proud of all the people who we support who took part in the Fashion Show last Tuesday. They looked amazing in their outfits, and strutted their way down the catwalk like pros, with such enthusiasm and passion. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came, helped and was in our Fashion Show. Special thanks go to Thomas Eggar LLP, Rock Choir, Newbury College, Nando’s Newbury, Stuart March Photography, The Chequers Hotel and the Mayor and Mayoress for all their help and support of this year’s event. As well as to all the kind businesses who donated prizes for the evening. However, a huge thank you must go to The Clothing Warehouse, who without their support we would not have been able to have this year’s event.
