Dream Catcher’s Programme – Funded by Partner Development Fund
This is a parenting programme written by Hy Cobb, for parents with or without a learning disability who are experiencing challenging behaviours and sleep problems in their children with LD.
The course is run over 10 weeks at the MENCAP centre and has run twice this year, both courses were successful with parents reporting changes in their children’s behaviours.
The course has been supported by staff members offering a crèche, and some teaching sessions. Also by 2 volunteers who have helped with the role play sessions.
The Sleep Clinic
Runs on a Thursday morning. This is for parents of children with a LD or a suspected LD who have sleep disorders. There are 2 Sleep Counsellors Zoe Dobson and Hy Cobb. A home assessment is made initially and follow-up clinic sessions to assess whether the tailored sleep programme is working for parent and child. We need more referrals to the service.
“A Family Advisor has also helped me access various grants for Louise so that she can have specific equipment that meets her needs which she wouldn’t get without these grants.”
