Glampervan Respite Care
Our bespoke specification Shepherds Hut for much needed respite care in West Berkshire for Disabled Children.

Arbor deliver the completed Shepherds Hut to the West Berkshire Mencap centre. Tucked away in the children’s services playground at the Mencap Centre Enborne

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN GRAEME LEECH
I am delighted that our much talked about, fully converted, accessible Shepherds Hut has arrived at the Mencap Centre. This will provide a fun break for our clients, and in turn parents and carers will enjoy much deserved respite. This project has taken longer than initially planned to come to fruition as there has been a lot involved from fundraising to Arbor Shepherds’ Huts building to our specification, to gaining the necessary planning permissions (12 months!), to then arranging the necessary ground works carried out by kind members of our local BNI group. Water and Electricity are now connected, and Groundworks about to start to create paved areas and steps, with the wheelchair lift installation and finishing touches to interior to follow to allow us to welcome our first guests.
Arbor Shepherds huts are making ours now and we are expecting to take delivery around end July/early August!

Little Mulberries
West Berkshire Mencap are running a NEW BABY AND TODDLER GROUP on Tuesday Mornings, during term time, between 9.30am and 11.30am for 0-5 year olds.
The cost is £3 per Adult and two children with donations towards Tea/coffee and biscuits.
This new group is run by Emily, one of our Children’s Services Team and at the Mencap Centre in Enborne Gate Newbury.
We are growing the group slowly to give everyone a chance to settle in and not feel overwhelmed.
Caroline Austin (Caz) Head of Children’s services said ‘there is a real need for a service such as this in West Berkshire where Parents and Carers of young Children with a learning disability whether diagnosed or undiagnosed can have a social opportunity in a safe fun and friendly environment.’
To register and join us at Little Mulberries email caz.austin@wbmencap.org or call the Mencap Centre on 01635 41464 for a registration form

West Berkshire Mencap has been running children’s services for over 20 years. Our aim is to operate a safe and happy environment for children aged 0-18 years with a learning disability (with or without a physical disability) to play, have fun and socially interact.
West Berkshire Mencap currently employs two full time and several part time staff to run the services. We offer Holiday fun days, Term time Outreach after school, plus our Outreach service at weekends and school holidays.
The Children’s Services Manager’s role within the organisation is to develop and provide services for children with a learning disability and their families. Please speak to a member of staff about any ideas or services that would benefit your family.
“Whenever Louise visits the Centre she is able to meet and interact with lots of other children, she learns and enjoys a huge range of experiences. Now Louise isn’t clingy, she has fun and a bit of time away from mum too!”
